At
age 16, Frank’s first motorcycle was a 165cc Harley. Within 2
weeks he traded for a bigger, 1947 74” Harley flathead. Then came
the 1955 Golden Flash 650cc BSA twin, beginning his love for British
bikes.
From 1964 to 1970, Frank worked as a mechanic for Blalock Cycle, a BSA and Yamaha dealer in Wheaton, Maryland. Because of a common love for British bikes and motorcycle racing, Frank then went to work for Tom Heyser at Heyser Cycle, a BSA and Honda dealer in Laurel, Maryland. This shared love still exists today. Their latest accomplishment proved they had the fastest Gold Star in the United States when Heyser’s 1955 BSA finished first in all of its races in the 2006 AARMA vintage races at Daytona. Soon after beginning at Blalock’s, Frank began working at home on his friends British bikes. Soon came race bike preparation. The business grew and he went from doing minor repairs to fettling race bikes, major rebuilds and full restorations, continuing to draw a large following of dedicated friends and fans. When he retired from Heyser’s in 2000 he turned his attention to the business full time. He expanded his inventory, put together a catalog and began advertising nationally. In 2005 he moved to Georgetown, South Carolina where he built a new 2800 square foot workshop. Today he has a large inventory of original as well as modern parts for classic British bikes. He is also an importer of new, completely reengineered ABSAF Gold Star engines. |
